Calls on Senate to Reject Her Nomination

NEW YORK (May 16, 2018) – The National Urban League celebrated its century-plus history today with the dedication of its new headquarters in Lower Manhattan, led by several past Presidents and the family of the organization’s second leader.

NEW YORK (May 17) -- National Urban League President Marc H. Morial today condemned the reported effort by Donald Trump’s then-campaign chief Steve Bannon to suppress African-American votes in the 2016 election.

“Any effort to steer eligible citizens from exercising their sacred right to vote is un-American,” Morial said. “Specifically to target voters of color, who have fought and bled and died in defense of that right, is morally reprehensible.”

The late Whitney M. Young, National Urban League President once said: “Every man is our brother, and every man’s burden is our own. Where poverty exists, all are poorer. Where hate flourishes, all are corrupted. Where injustice reins, all are unequal.”

The Main Street Marshall Plan, the National Urban League’s comprehensive blueprint for addressing lack of opportunity and economic inequality in America’s urban communities, has been introduced as federal legislation by members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
