About the Program
Housing and Community Development provides asset-building tools to individuals and communities through homeownership and financial education programs that teach the value of wealth management.
How We Help
As our nation faces great challenges due to the foreclosure crisis, increased levels of household debt and unemployment, there are even greater numbers of Americans without access to wealth. The Housing and Community Development division preserves individual and community assets through partnering with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), NeighborWorks America and a diverse network of institutions to provide consumers with financial management, home ownership and retention strategies.
Comprehensive Housing Counseling supports the delivery of a wide spectrum of housing counseling services to homebuyers, homeowners, low-to moderate-income renters, and the homeless.
Signature Programs:
Financial Literacy Provides youth and adults with information and education about the vital importance of financial empowerment; with specific emphasis on basic banking, money management, saving and investing and the role and use of credit.
Foreclosure Prevention Functions to forestall mortgage default, delinquency and foreclosure and to educate client’s decision-making with regard to home purchase, maintenance, mortgage re-finance and loan modification.
Homeownership Preparation Promotes homeownership to potential first-time homebuyers by assisting clients to identify appropriate lenders, down payment assistance and soft second mortgage programs where applicable.
