The Opportunity Compact is a comprehensive set of principles and policy recommendations set forth by the National Urban League designed to empower all Americans to be full participants in the economic and social mainstream of this nation.
The report drew upon the strength of the National Urban League's history as the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement for social and economic empowerment. to reassert the organization as a proactive and effective agent in the development of public policy. The Opportunity Compact, while no longer in development, is the culmination of extensive research and policy analysis by the National Urban League Policy Institute (now the National Urban League Washington Bureau) and the collaboration of policy experts from academia, non-profit service, advocacy organizations and corporations. The Opportunity Compact still serves as an invaluable resource of information and insight.
