Urban League Leaders Support Renaming Philadelphia Train Station for Rep. Gray
Marc H. Morial, National Urban League President and CEO, and Andrea Custis, President and CEO of the Urban League of Philadelphia, today issued the following statement regarding Philadelphia’s 30thStreet Station:
“The National Urban League and the Urban League of Philadelphia proudly support the efforts of the William H. Gray III Memorial Committee to secure Amtrak's commitment to rename Philadelphia's 30th Street Station after the late Congressman William H. Gray III. Congressman Gray was a coalition builder and a passionate public servant and we could do no better than to honor his memory. After more than three years and the growing voice of both local and national figures working with the Memorial Committee, we are heartened to hear Amtrak CEO Richard Anderson has relayed his support for the full implementation of the 2014 federal law. The real work lies ahead and we look forward to Amtrak's full partnership in moving swiftly on a comprehensive renaming of 30th Street Station.”
