NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE BOOSTS ENTREPRENEURSHIP, CAREER SAVVY, WELLNESS AT ESSENCE FEST

NEW ORLEANS (July 3, 2018) – Starting or expanding a business. Finding a job or succeeding in one. Achieving better spiritual and physical health. The National Urban League is making it happen at Essence Festival this weekend in New Orleans.

National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial – who served as founding mayor of the Essence Festival when it began in 1995 – will speak at the Festival on Saturday.

“It’s been thrilling to watch Essence Festival blossom into more than any of us ever imagined – the largest, most exciting and purposeful gathering of African-Americans anywhere in the U.S.,” Morial said. “We’ve always called it ‘a party with a purpose,’ and the National Urban League is proud to help serve that purpose with the inspirational and educational sessions we’re presenting.”

He added, “African American women are the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs in the U.S. Their success in the business world is a win for our communities, creating much-needed jobs and boosting the national economy.

Morial said the self-care sessions are particularly important for black women who often put others first and neglect their own needs – potentially leading to stress, exhaustion and burnout.

National Urban League events will take place at the Ernest N. Morial convention center, 900 Convention Center Blvd, New Orleans, in the Path to Power Experience Pod #2.  They include:
