National Urban League Appoints New Director of Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 8, 2019) -- National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial announced the appointment of Clint Odom to lead the League’s Washington Bureau.

“Clint is an accomplished executive and keen legal mind with expertise and experience navigating federal policy and the government affairs,” Morial said.

Odom joins the league as Senior Vice President for Policy and Executive Director of the Washington Bureau. He replaces Donald Cravins, Jr., who served in the position since August of 2015. Cravins has accepted the position of Vice President of Policy and External Affairs for Charter Communications.

The Washington Bureau is the policy and advocacy arm of the National Urban League.

Odom currently serves as Legislative Director in the office of U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris of California. He previously was a staff member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation where he held the position of Democratic General Counsel and Policy Director. He was Policy Director for FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel.

For several years he managed government relations for Verizon Communications, and ran his own public affairs firm, Odom Consulting.  He began his career as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Henry Wingate in the Southern District of Mississippi.

He is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Louisiana State University.
